Glitter and Pumpkins...Two Things I Love!!

It's fall and I LOVE fall decorations and crafts!! I saw this idea last year and really wanted to try it myself this year. So, I bought a cute little pie pumpkin and some sparkly glitter. I LOVE this glitter. It is from Martha Stewart. It's more expensive than regular glitter so wait until Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon and use that when you buy it.
So, this morning while the baby was sleeping Susanna and I decided to try our glittery pumpkin craft. It's so simple!! You just paint some white glue onto your pumpkin and then sprinkle the pumpkin with glitter. According to the Martha Stewart website you need to put clear acrylic on the stem. I haven't done that yet but I will. A helpful tip is to sprinkle the glitter over a thin paper plate. It will help catch the extra glitter and it's also easy to fold the plate so that you can pour the extra glitter back into the bottle.
This is our finished product and I really like it. I need to buy some different sized pumpkins and make some in different colors. You could do mini pumpkins and pie pumpkins. If you wanted to spend some extra $$ you could buy a carving pumpkin and have a HUGE glittery pumpkin!!

The Importance of Paying Attention at the Grocery!!

I was in Target the other day picking up a few things. One thing I always do is shop the "back" aisles because that's where they keep their clearance items. Well, one thing that always gets my attention is when Juicy Juice is on sale. So, when I saw this box of Juicy Juice I just grabbed it and threw it in my cart. Sometimes I pay attention if it's 15% or 30% off and will wait if it's not on sale "enough". But with Juicy Juice I'll just go ahead and buy it usually b/c it's something my kids always need. Well, when I got home and opened this package I noticed the clearance label. Have a look - see anything wrong?? YES!! I DID pay MORE for the product than it's original price. I have NEVER seen a clearance label with a mark up on it before. I'm sure it was just some sort of fluke - but nevertheless I did not get a discount this time. Now I know to pay more attention to the labels ALL THE TIME! Oh - and you need to pay attention at the register when you pay as well. I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and I was buying a bag of golden delicious apples. I had three apples in my bag and they rang up $4.11!! I said, "Did that just ring up $4.11 for three appless?!?!?" And the girl was like - yes, they are $1.37 each. I tried to tell her that they are $1.37 a pound like every other apple in the produce department - AND like the Fuji apples I was buying in the same transaction that did ring up correctly. But, she didn't believe me and I wasn't about to call the manager over on a sunday afternoon. I didn't feel like the "fight" at that time was worth it....so everyone, PAY ATTENTION...it might save you some money!! :)
