Madeline's Very First Haircut!

Madeline went to Snip-Its today for her very first haircut!!
I waited until she was 2 1/2 to do this because I just wasn't ready
to cut her hair yet. So, it just kept growing and it finally got to the point where
it wouldn't stop getting in her eyes so I decided it was time.
Snip-Its is a place just for kids. It is so very kid friendly. Madeline loved it!
They give her a "ticket" to carry when she goes in. They have characters all
through the store and they even have t.v.'s where the kids can play games or watch a movie while they get their hair cut! And at the very end, Madeline took her ticket and a piece of her
hair to this machine at the front. She put her hair in the machine and her ticket and
it gave her a bottle of bubbles as a prize. She loved it! We'll definitely go back!

Here is Madeline being very brave while the stylist cut her hair.

The stylist is cutting a ribbon to put in her hair. She had the option of having her down

or put in a pony tail...she chose to wear it down :)

Here is Madeline all finished with her pretty pink ribbon and her new haircut!!

When we were all finished, they took a picture of Madeline, put a lock of hair in a baggy

and gave her a Certificate for being brave at her very first haircut!

My little Firecrackers!

For the 4th of July we went to the carnival in Bethany. It was a lot of fun for the girls. (It was also VERY hot!!) Madeline was able to ride a pony and ride some carnival rides. Susanna had fun in the wagon chewing on her toys. After the carnival we went back home and mommy and daddy got ready for a cookout. We invited family over for hotdogs and hamburgers. Plus, the kiddos got to swim (at least for a little while...we all had to get out because of lightning in the sky and the threat of rain). It didn't rain here. I think we're the only place in the city that didn't get any rain. I didn't even know it COULD rain on the 4th of July :) I don't think I can remember a single Independence Day where it has rained in the past. We had a lot of fun with the cookout and my dad celebrated his birthday.

Here is Madeline on the pony. She was a big girl and rode it all by herself!

Here is Madeline on the roller coaster...she was actually about an inch too short to ride, but the operator let her on anyway...I was afraid she might get scared but she didn't!! The ride attendant said to Matt as she was getting off, "I thought she was gonna be a cryer for sure!" What did he know?!?!? Notice how old the girls are behind her...my baby girl is brave!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Sweet Potatoes Anyone??

Here is a messy messy baby....enjoying the delicious tastes of apples and sweet potatoes. Susanna has really started eating solid foods much better lately. She was a slow learner, but she has gotten the hang of it now. She is pretty messy at times. She hasn't really found anything that she just absolutely won't eat yet. So, we're trying to give her a wide variety of foods. Madeline's favorite was Spinach Lasagna...maybe Susanna will like that one too!

A Fractured Foot

Well, it looks like I have a stress fracture in my left foot! People keep asking me, "What happened?" but I can't really give them a definitive answer. I don't really know. I was just walking around the house and stepped down and felt a "pop" in my foot and then anytime I put pressure on it I felt pain. It wasn't all that bad at first but it got worse. I waited about a week and then finally got it x-rayed at work. The doctor thinks it's a stress fracture and I got this lovely walking cast type thing to wear. It's called a cam-walker and I like the fact that it is removable. I'm not supposed to bend my foot, so this helps to keep it flat. It's heavy and hot, though. But I can't complain b/c my foot does feel better since I've started wearing it. I've even been able to work with it on. (and normally, I don't wear my pants tucked into the thing, but I did for the picture so you could see it...it looks silly with your pant leg tucked in!! :)
