84 Degrees is Warm Enough to Swim!

Well, after a hot day walking at the Arts Festival, the girls wanted to know if it was warm enough to go swimming. It surely felt warm enough! So, after we were home daddy put up the inflatable swimming pool. The girls LOVED it!! They really had a LOT of fun and daddy took some great pictures of them!

The Arts Festival 2008

We really had a fun day today. We were able to go to the Arts Festival. Daddy didn't have a class to go to today so we kidnapped him from studying and went downtown. The girls really had a lot of fun (and so did we!) We saw all kinds of interesting art and sculptures. We were even able to paint our own piece of pottery. We painted it and then they put it in the kiln and it looked completely different afterwards. Of course we had some fun junk food too - dippin dots, snow cones and strawberry newport. I had the strawberry newport and I wasn't a big fan. It should've had ice cream instead of pudding. (in my opinion). We also saw ducks and turtles at the myriad gardens. I think the kids liked seeing them as much as anything else! It turned out to be a perfect day for the Arts Festival!

The Girls Have Made New Friends...

The girls have found two frogs that live in a log in our backyard. Despite all of their "playing" the frogs keep returning. The girls have named them "hoppy" and "ribbit". Daddy filled up their old inflatable bath tub and the girls let the froggies swim in there. Neither one of them are afraid of the frogs. Mommy, on the other hand, doesn't want to have anything to do with them!!

Susanna and Her Big Girl Bed!!

Well, we finally got Susanna a "big girl" bed. Well, sort of. It's not as big as Madeline's. Since we are about to have a new baby (in a few months) I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and get Susanna adjusted to sleeping in the same room with Madeline. It's going to be an adjustment for both of them. When I brought up the idea of Susanna sleeping in a big girl bed in Madeline's room they were both very excited. Susanna couldn't wait to be a big girl and Madeline couldn't wait to help her. Well, space is limited around here. We thought the best thing to maximize the space in Madeline's room would be to put a toddler bed in the room instead of a twin size bed. I did a little looking and found a really nice one at Babies R Us. It's a sturdy wood frame that is white like Madeline's. They actually look very similar. I ordered a new quilt for her bed but that hasn't come yet. So...last night was her first night in her bed. We put both the girls to bed at the same time and explained to them that they needed to stay in their beds and not get up. We fed the fish, turned on their c.d. and shut the door. And that was that! I couldn't believe it! Neither one of them got up or made any noise. We were so proud of both of them! Tonight went pretty well too. Madeline actually got up to get some juice, so of course, little sister followed. We put them back to bed and told them not to get up anymore. And they didn't...they are asleep right now. I hope it continues to go this smooth!!

Silly Girls!

We spent saturday afternoon at Dylan and Rylee's house for Rylee's second birthday this past saturday. Both of the girls enjoyed putting on pieces of Dylan's fireman costume. Here are a couple of pictures of my silly girls...

Powder Powder Everywhere!!

Alright...Susanna made one of those horribly funny messes today that I just couldn't get on to her for. Yes, we talked, but I was actually able to remain calm. She kept repeating..."No more white powder." So, hopefully the talk worked. You see, Susanna has a corner in her room where she will spend tons of time changing her babies diapers. Recently she found a fairly empty bottle of the roll-on powder. So, I let her use it. Harmless, right? Well, this morning when I changed her diaper, I needed to use some powder for Susanna. Since my roll-on was out I grabbed a bottle of baby powder. Brand new. I used it and then put it up. It crossed my mind that she might try to sneak it out of my room later, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt (my first mistake) and put it up and didn't think about it again. Well, this afternoon, Susanna was quietly playing in her room. I could hear her and knew she was changing her babies. So, after about 15 minutes I got up to go check on her and this is what I found....She had taken that brand new bottle of powder and changed her babies and made a HUGE mess! I walked into a white powdery cloud in her room. Our whole house smells like baby powder now. So, hopefully, she won't do it again. I let her know that if she got the powder again next time she would be in big trouble!! It is funny, though....

The Medieval Fair

We took the girls to the Medieval Fair in Norman this past weekend. This is probably the third time we've been. It definitely makes for interesting entertainment. Matt and I enjoy the people watching as much as anything! There are many different types of costumes and lifestyles represented at the fair....and many are not so pretty. But in all, it's a pretty fun activity and the kids really seem to enjoy it. Here are some of our pictures from the day. (Oh and the weather couldn't have been better!)

Toddler Groove...

Unfortunately, I am unable to post a photo or a video of the fun I'm about to blog about. It's just one of those things that is too hard to photograph properly (due to light...or lack of.) But, we discovered a very fun and free way for your children to have fun and get a little bit tired. The following are the ingredients:

1 part bubble machine

1 part darkness

2 parts toddler (or however many you have)

1 part song (we chose "Groove is in the Heart" among a few others)

1 part strobe light

This is the equation for total fun-ness for you and your toddlers. Turn out the lights, turn on the bubble machine and the strobe light and then.....groove!!
