The Dinosaur Museum...

This past weekend we were trying to think of something fun to do and we decided on the "Dinosaur Museum" (The Sam Noble Museum in Norman). I didn't realize it before but it's a pretty inexpensive place to take young children, for a museum. Kids 5 and under are free. Matt is a student so it only cost $5.00 for me. Anyway...we let Madeline and Susanna be the tour guides. We went with no agenda...just to let the kids look at what they wanted. It was so fun! They were both completely in awe of so many things, especially Madeline! They were like..."LOOK!! LOOK!!...it's a lizard or a snake or a 'something-or-other'" (There are lots of things besides dinosaurs.) They really enjoyed themselves and you can see them pointing at some things in a few of the pictures below. Personally, I think the museum looks great. There are two floors. The bottom floor is the dinosaur exhibits. Right now they also have the SuperCroc exhibit...supposedly the biggest crocodile to ever live. I am like a child, in a way, when I walk through. I don't really read the signs - Half of the stuff they say goes over my head and I don't believe much of what they are telling me anyway. So, we just go through and look at all the fun exhibits. There is a second floor that deals mostly with Oklahoma history and landscapes and wildlife. This is my personal favorite part of the museum. It's a little more palatable. Anyway...the girls had a lot of fun! Here are a few pics from the day. Our camera batteries died right after we got there (Grrrr!!! note to self: BUY NEW BATTERIES!!) I look like i'm going to explode in my picture, don't I??? Hopefully...any day now?!?!?!?

Madeline's First Vacation Bible School

Madeline has been going to Vacation Bible School this week with her friend Trinity. Our friends Debo and Shelly have pretty much coordinated the VBS with their church and invited Madeline to join them this week. She has just loved every minute of it! Last night while we were on our way she shouts out in the car..."Vacation Bible School...here I come!!!" I hope she's this excited when it's time to start school :) She has so much fun with the crafts and the snacks and the worship time. There are little skits each night and tonight daddy was able to participate in one of them. It was very funny and the kids all got a kick out it! Susanna is too young to attend but she was able to go and watch the skit tonight and she got to make her own craft too. She was super excited about her new craft as well. Thanks Debo and Shelly (and everyone else involved) for such a fun VBS!!

Glenn Beck - Unelectable 2008

Matt and I went last night to see Glenn Beck's live show, "Unelectable 2008". Matt either listens to his radio show or watches him just about every day. I listen/watch when I'm with Matt and it's on. I think he's pretty funny. The show last night was kind've a stand-up show. I laughed a lot. So did the rest of the audience. The show was at the Civic Center and the place was pretty full! We went to bricktown and ate at Sonic before the show. It was nice to have a night out with Matt while the kids stayed the night at grandma's! :)

Matt's 1st Year Pinning

This past saturday Matt had his first year pinning from O.T. school. The ceremony described the pinning as a transition into a more clinical/hands on approach to the rest of their education. They have been immersed in a ton of new clinical information this past year and now they get to go out and apply their new knowledge. Matt will have a 4 week clinical this summer at Unity Hospital in Shawnee. He's excited about getting to do hands-on work and to get a break from all of the book work. He'll still have classes again once the fall semester starts. In fact, he has two more years of classes! I thought this was a nice ceremony. It was neat for me to get to meet some of his friends that I've heard so much about. We're so proud of him!!

Madeline went for her 4 year well child visit the other day. We're a little late in going b/c we had to wait on insurance issues - and then once we got that fixed it took a few months before they could get her into the office. She's getting to be such a big girl. She still measures in the 90th-95th percentile for her age. While she was there they measured her blood pressure, checked her hearing and her vision and even made her go potty in a cup (with mommy's help.) Oh and she had to have 2 shots. She didn't even cry during her shots - she's such a big girl! But she did have a lot of soreness afterwards. Everything went well at the doctor's office. The only thing we need to follow up on was her vision exam. She didn't "test" so well. But, honestly, I'm not completely sure I trust that they have the most effective method with the vision chart they have. So we made an appt with a children's eye doctor to get them checked, just in case. I've never really noticed any problems with her vision, so we'll see???
