Oklahoma Trails!

Yesterday when I got off work we took a trip to the zoo. We wanted to walk through the new Oklahoma Trails exhibit. It is a very nice new addition to the zoo. It is beautifully landscaped (I want my backyard to look like it does!) The exhibit displays many animals and birds that are native to Oklahoma. There are whitetail deer, turkeys, wolves, snakes, fish, bears and much more. There are waterfalls, hills and trees. There is a barn with blacklights inside and nocturnal animals on exhibit (bats, owls, skunks and many others.) It is a very interesting and fun exhibit. We look forward to walking through again when it's not so crowded :)

Madeline and her Wormies and Froggies

Lately my little Madeline has become very fond of looking for worms in the yard. This all started a few weeks ago with all of the rain we had...the worms would migrate out of the soggy ground onto the driveway in search of dryness. She noticed them and was never afraid of them. She now digs for them, touches them and plays with them. She has even convinced her little friends from next door that they are fun to dig for and play with. They spend a lot of time outside in search of these slimey little creatures. This is something that her daddy encourages. Not mommy....mommy doesn't like them. Doesn't want to touch them. But I don't feel like I can tell her..."Madeline! Worms are slimey and icky!!" I want her little mind to be free to develop whatever interests it might delight in without prejudice from mommy. So, she is currently fascinated with bugs, worms, frogs and all sorts of creatures great and small. I have a feeling there is a future little scientist in there....

A Day at the Lake

Last sunday afternoon we took the girls to lake Hefner so they could feed the geese and throw rocks in the water. It was a beautiful day and the kids really enjoyed themselves. While we were there Susanna walked into a mud puddle. She panicked and momma tried to rescue her. Well, momma ended up sliding and she fell into the mud puddle too. There is a picture below. I basically got my hands and legs (knees down) muddy. I landed on my right knee and it was sore for several days. I had a huge black and blue area. I tried to take a picture of that too but it was too out of focus. I'm better now though. So, anyway, the geese were very unafraid of us. They walked right up to the girls to get their bread.

Easter Sunday!

Easter Sunday was a busy day for all of us.

We went to church on saturday night so we

were able to sleep in a little on sunday. After

we got up we went to great grandma's for lunch.

It was yummy as usual. We missed Uncle Chris

and Tonya though (they live in Oregon now :(

The girls were able to hunt for Easter eggs but

really only wanted to one time. It was SO COLD

outside this year. It had even snowed on friday!!

Yep, it snowed on Good Friday. After our fun at

great grandma's we went home and took quick naps.

Then we went to Uncle Mike's house and had another

yummy meal! We let the kids hunt for Easter eggs

there too. The kids had fun and enjoyed it even

though it was still very cool. We all had a great day!

Colors, Colors Everywhere!

Twas the night before Easter and Madeline and Dylan colored Easter eggs....

Aunt Melissa, Dylan and Rylee came over and we had fun dying 3 dozen easter eggs!

We started the night off with some pizza and then the colors started flying...

The kids really had a lot of fun watching the eggs change colors and decorating

their eggs. Of course, they were kids and didn't want to leave

the eggs in the dye very long :) We really had a lot of fun and there were only a few

casualties :)

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its Way!

Today was our 2nd annual Easter Party with our playgroup!

Our friend Kelly hosted and provided tons of colorful eggs

for all of the kids to find. This was Susanna's first time

to hunt for easter eggs. She wasn't quite sure what to do with

them at first but soon she figured it out. I think she found

about 4 or 5 eggs. Madeline did a good job and found about

12 or so. They were all full of candy! The girls

had so much fun and they get to do it

again this weekend with our family!
